Tuition
Tuition for private and/or group classes may vary. All fees related to tuition are due in their entirety prior to the first class. Students will not be allowed to attend class until all fees are paid in full. A one-time registration fee of $90.00 will be included for the first invoice. Most materials will be provided for the students. A material fee of $10.00 per subject per month will be included in the invoice. If students need to purchase books, these will be charged on the invoice depending on book costs.
Courses
Excel Academy provides general education courses, such as reading, writing, grammar, math, science, critical thinking, and homework help. We also feature specialized classes, such as study skills, book club, chess club, coding, debate, MCT (a gifted language arts course), Spanish, French, Latin, and Philosophy. Specialized classes may require prerequisites prior to enrollment. Questions regarding prerequisites should be directed to the office manager or the director. Pre-AP courses, AP courses, SAT, ACT, MCAT, and College Counseling services are also available. Specific questions regarding course content, prices, schedule, availability, and instructor should be directed to the office manager or the director. Course prices vary. Excel Academy reserves the right to remove any students from a course who are in violation of our facility guidelines.
Online Tutoring (Optional)
Online tutoring at Excel Academy is held through Zoom while materials are shared using Google Classroom. Online tutoring must be held during Excel Academy’s business hours. With the tutoring session hosted through Zoom, students are required to have an electronic device with a functioning camera and microphone. Furthermore, all students participating in online tutoring are required to be part of Excel Academy’s Google Classroom and the appropriate classes. Students are still held accountable for completing their homework assignments and showing up to their Zoom sessions on time. Missing an online tutoring session and/or the need to reschedule an online tutoring session requires a 24 hour notice to the office. Zoom meeting IDs will be distributed to students/parents one day prior to the scheduled class along with the appropriate password to join the session.
Google classroom codes will be distributed in advance, prior to the first class. Google classroom codes need to be added by the student using a personal Gmail that is not affiliated with nv.ccsd.net or any g suite accounts. Students will need to set their screen name with an identifiable first and/or last name (students who will be using parents’ accounts can have the parents’ first and last name).
Payment Options
Tuition paid with debit or credit cards are saved on file. Monthly tuition may be paid in person or online and are due by the invoice due date. Any outstanding balances not paid by the invoice due date are subject to a late fee of $25.00 with no exceptions. Any bank charges Excel Academy receives regarding returned payments will be separately charged $25.00.
Excel Academy accepts all valid credit cards, checks, cash, money orders, and cashiers checks. Tuition that exceeds $1,000 paid by card will be subject to a 3.5% surcharge; however, this surcharge can be compensated and removed when payments with cash or check(s) are received.
Course Contract
Excel Academy requires at least a 3-month or 20-hour contract when students enroll. We offer 3-month, 6-month, and 12-month contracts. Students can also enroll in 20-hour, 40-hour, 80-hour, and 150-hour contracts. All contracts are priced hourly. Should you wish to pay upfront for your entire contract at the time of enrollment, you will receive a 3% discount.
Academic Coaching
Excel Academy will offer academic coaching effective January 2020. Academic coaching will be divided between elementary, middle, and high school students. Academic Coaching will include advice and guidance in managing school work and homework, as well as developing study and organization skills. Any questions regarding the content of Academic coaching, prices, and availability should be directed to the office manager or director.
Class Cancellations
Individual class sessions must be cancelled with at least 24 hours notice. Classes cancelled 24 hours in advance will be eligible for a make-up class for each class missed. Notice of a cancellation less than 24 hours before the class is scheduled will result in the full price being charged for the class, and no make-up class will be offered. Same-day cancellations cannot be compensated due to our teachers already being present at our facility. Notice of missing classes should be directed to the office only. Should an emergency arise, same-day cancellations will be reviewed for further action.
Discontinuation of Classes
Excel Academy requires at least two weeks notice regarding discontinuation of any class.
Make-Up Policy
Make-up classes are offered ONLY if the original class is cancelled with 24 hours notice. Any make-up classes are subject to availability and must be used within 90 days (3 months) of the cancelled class, or until discontinuation, whichever comes first. If Excel Academy cancels classes for any unexpected reasons (i.e. inclement weather, building maintenance issues, etc.), we will schedule a make-up to compensate for the cancellation. Excel Academy makes every effort to schedule make-up classes with the original teacher, but we cannot guarantee the same instructor for make-up classes. Due to limited availability, once the make-up is scheduled, rescheduling or cancellations are not accepted. Contracted invoices that are paid in their entirety in advance can be subject to extensions accordingly if there are any missed sessions. Make-up requests will be accepted through a text or email notification to the Academy office or by filling out a request form located in the waiting room. Predetermined absences must be notified to the office by the 25th of every month in order to be excluded from the following month’s schedule and/or invoice. Specialized group classes such as MCT, debate, book club, coding, SAT and ACT bootcamp, AP group class, and homework classes will not be allowed a make-up class.
Teachers
Excel Academy pursues the highest quality tutoring and, as such, employs the most qualified teachers. It does not guarantee any teachers for any classes. A consistent schedule will be established based on the availability of the student. Due to availability and class cancellations, a class may be taught by a substitute teacher.
Refunds
Excel Academy does not offer refunds under any circumstances.
Medical Conditions and Individual Needs
Excel Academy must be made aware of students with medical conditions or specialized needs. Allergies must be notified to the office. All medical records are confidential to the office and the instructor for privacy and safety reasons. In the case of a medical emergency, Excel Academy will act to the best of common knowledge and abilities. Medical professionals will be notified for any serious problems. Excel Academy does not accept responsibility for any incidents or medical emergencies outside of our expertise. We do not provide any medical training outside of a standard first aid kit. Excel Academy is obligated to report any suspicious activities/concerns to the legal parents/guardians of the student and, if necessary, to law enforcement.
Restroom Policy
Restrooms are for public use and are located outside of Excel Academy. Excel Academy is not responsible for the restrooms. All students are required to ask for permission to use the restrooms. Any misconduct related to using the restrooms will be directly reported to the parents, and consequences will be dealt accordingly. Students ages seven and under will be escorted to the restrooms by a teacher or administrator of the same sex, or by the parents/guardian.
Attendance
Parents, guardians, siblings, and all other associates must observe Excel Academy’s guidelines while on the premises. Excel Academy reserves the right to refuse admission and/or instruction. Students will not be released until they are picked up by an appointed adult. Excel Academy is not responsible for any events/incidents off the Academy grounds unless specifically sponsored by the Academy.
Privacy
In order to preserve our students’ and families’ individual privacy, Excel Academy will not be disclosing any information to any other parties unless the information and details are shared with the parents/guardians. In order to ensure the safety and well being of our students and families items such as tuition, involved programs, and any other personal details will not be released to any other parties under any circumstances. This will include any conversations between administrators and/or teachers in any public setting. If any discussions or reports regarding a student’s performance in their academics is needed, it will be done through the Evernotes system. In other cases, for an in depth conversation, an appointment should be made to speak with admin and the teacher.
Classroom Conduct/Behavior
Students who misbehave will be given a warning and be subject to disciplinary action. Students who continue to misbehave will be removed from the class, and the parents/guardian will be immediately notified. Excel Academy does not tolerate any form of harassment, violence, or threats upon any of our students or faculty. Any threats or actions that jeopardize the safety of students and faculty will be reported to law enforcement immediately and handled separately. Any damages made to Excel Academy property are subject to a fine. Excel Academy reserves the right to terminate any contracts as a result of student behavior.

Excel Academy does not allow students to use any electronic device during class time except when related to school or Excel assignments. Cell phones are not permitted in the classrooms. Cell phones may only be used in the main lobby or outside of our facility. Any cell phones or electronic devices used in a manner unrelated to the class will be confiscated until the end of the student’s classes.
Excel Notebook

COVID-19 Procedures
COVID-19 has adjusted many of Excel Academy’s services and how they are provided at the center indefinitely. In order to provide a safe academic environment for students and staff, we urge students and parents to be aware, prepared, and respectful of the guidelines Excel Academy implements. First and foremost, any onsite tutoring sessions are still a risk factor to contracting and spreading COVID-19. While Excel Academy has implemented any and all precautions that are mandated by the state, there is still a risk for any students, parents, and staff members who choose to continue with onsite classes. During any visits to the Excel Academy facility, all students and parents must abide by the set guidelines in order to minimize the spread of COVID-19 and ensure proper social distancing procedures. Should a student or any individual the student has been in contact with be diagnosed with COVID-19, Excel Academy must be informed immediately and all onsite classes shall be cancelled for a minimum of at least 14 days. Scheduling and invoice matters will be dealt accordingly between the parents/guardians and the Excel Academy office staff. Returning to onsite session will require parents to provide official COVID-19 laboratory results the student has received to the office. Additionally, once students return to onsite sessions all social distancing guidelines will still be in effect. Onsite sessions will not be permitted if the student is still awaiting their COVID-19 results. Finally, Excel Academy strives to maintain the best and most ideal schedule for all students; however, if necessary, Excel Academy will change onsite sessions to online sessions with prior notice to parents/guardians.
